Punjab Congress leader and son of former Chief Minister, Rahulinder Singh Sidhu welcomed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Second day of tractor rally which was held at Sangrur on Monday. The rally was
addressed by Rahul Gandhi, the protest is a part of the campaign by Congress against the new farm bills. Rahulinder Singh said that all sorts of preparations was made for the rally. He urged farmers and youth to come out and support the protest rally against the passing of three draconian bills which would potentially
cause huge damage to the interests of farming community in Punjab.
He said that the three bills – Farmers Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020, The Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Service Act, 2020 and The Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020 passed by the Parliament during the monsoon session has led to great deal of demoralization among the farmers of state.
Rahulinder Singh castigated the Akalis for not opposing the bills when they were passed by Parliament. He said that Akalis exiting from the ruling NDA alliance was merely to save its skin and avoid backlash
from the farmers of the state.
