New Delhi, February 11
Prime Minister Narendra Modi today congratulated Arvind Kejriwal for the Aam Aadmi Party’s landslide victory in the Delhi Assembly election. Mr Kejriwal, in a prompt reply on Twitter, accepted PM’s wishes and said he is looking forward to work with the Centre for the development of the national capital.
“Thank you so much sir. I look forward to working closely with the Centre to make our capital city a truly world class city,” Kejriwal tweeted.
Counting of votes for the 2020 Delhi Vidhan Sabha election began at 8.00 am. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is hoping to retain power in the national capital, amid a challenge from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The Congress, which was once a dominant force in Delhi, is hoping for revival of its electoral fortunes.
Exit poll results have predicted AAP to secure a comfortable majority. This, as BJP is predicted to improve its tally. However, exit polls have gone wrong in the past.
