Lockdown was necessary to save lives, apologises for hardship: PM Modi

New Delhi, March 29

More than 660,000 people have been infected and more than 30,000 have died due to the novel coronavirus around the world. As per worldometers figures, Italy tops the death toll with 10,023 deaths; followed by Spain with death figures of 5,982. The United States of America has become the news hotspot of COVID 19 with total confirmed cases of 19,302 and 2,211 deaths. Justin Trudeau, the Prime Minister of Canada has said that anyone showing symptoms of coronavirus will not be allowed to board public transport. Russia announced a complete border closure while many parts of Africa are witnessing a violent response on the prevention measures imposed by governments.

In India 979 people have been infected 25 people have died as India enters into its sixth day lockdown imposed by the Central Government. Fresh cases were reported from Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Haryana and Andhra Pradesh. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nation today at 11 am on the pandemic through his radio show Mann ki Baat.
