Rapists should be lynched, says Jaya Bachchan
New Delhi, Dec 2 (TPE Correspondent) : The Samajwadi Party candidate for Rajya Sabha, Jaya Bachchan condemned the gruesome rape cum murder of a lady doctor that took place in Hyderabad on Wednesday saying that the accused should be handed over to the public and should be lynched.
She stood up amid rage over the Hyderabad incident, in which four men have been arrested for raping and murdering the 26-year-old Dr. Prinyanka Reddy on Wednesday night. The incident sparked nationwide protest and was raised in both houses of Parliament on Monday. Rajya Sabha Chairman Venkaiah Naidu also expressed outrage on crimes against women.
Meanwhile, senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad said that no government or leader would want that such incident occurs in their state. He said that this problem was much above the news making and should be taken seriously. “This problem can’t be solved by just making news. To eradicate such ghastly acts, there’s a need that we take a stand together against such crimes.”
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said that the government was ready for discussion on crime against women and to explore strongest provisions in laws. He said, “This act of rape cum murder of the woman has brought shame to the entire country. It has hurt everyone. The accused must be given the most stringent punishment for their crime.”
The Shiv Sena, All India Trinamool Congress Revolutionary Socialist Party and congress gave Adjournment Motion Notice in Lok Sabha over the incident. Aam Admi party MP Sanjay Singh gave suspension of Business notice in Rajya Sabha.
