Twitterati went crazy over Modi’s “light a candle” message, here are some reactions.

On Friday Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation for the second time amid coronavirus lockdown, he urged people to light a Diya, candle or a torch or a flashlight from mobile phones to fight the darkness of coronavirus, twitter went crazy after the announcement and Twitterati gave very mixed reactions. Here are some reactions of famous celebrities on Modi’s “light a diya” message.


Bollywood actress taapsee pannu tweeted “New task is here ! Yay yay yayy !!!”. It was an implied tweet on Narendra Modi’s “light a diya” message.

A television celebrity Shruti Seth criticized the government over twitter and said” Can we please have some real solutions for once!!!! People are homeless, jobless and hungry and candles aren’t going to cut it.”

Indian political strategist Prashant Kishor took a dig at Modi government and tweeted “ While we must appreciate all efforts that showcase our solidarity and demonstrate our resolve to fight #Covid these can’t be substitute for a robust, well thought-out plan and response that is rooted in scientific evidence and is guided by data and best professional experience.”

Songwriter and screenwriter Prasoon Joshi welcomed PM Modi’s idea of spreading light, he tweeted” Whilst India Fights Corona medically as PM Narendra Modi iterated it’s important to draw on our inner strength and resolve. Each of us can be a humble enabler & spread the light of positivity and togetherness in these trying times.”

Actor Saqib Saleem tweeted” Big boss ka Naya task suna Kya” it was an indirect comment on Modi’s announcement.

This is the second collective gesture that PM Modi has called for since his March 22 Janata Curfew, when millions came out to their balconies, doorsteps, and windows and clapped and clanged utensils to applaud those at the frontline of the fight against coronavirus, like doctors, nurses and civic staff.
